Good job!
A lot of birds that are hesitant to try new toys or foods will do so after they see you playing/eating and enjoying them. I think when they see it's not hurting you and you're actually enjoying it - they figure it must not be so bad!

Yay! It's a great feeling, isn't it? Ava's still hesitant of a lot of toys, but when she first actively went for a toy that I showed her was "safe" I was very excited!

Good work!
I have tried and tried to get Nemo to want to go on his playgym. LOL! I sit and play and act silly. He seems kind of excited but then doesn't want to have anything to do with it. I just keep trying. I am having trouble with "step up", with him wanting to be out of the cage, and with him eating new foods. He is starting to eat the mix of crunched up Nutriberries and Safflower seeds I am leaving for him. I was pleased by that. He doesn't even look at the veggies but then again I can't keep them out all day. He has been with me three weeks this past Sunday. Oh, I just put new toys in the cage..so cute. I am happy with them! lol. Joanne :0) |

That's how it starts. Wait until he starts helping himself to your breakfast!

If my guy is a little scared of something new or is unsure I Tap it with my finger - as if my finger was a beak - it seems to work most of the time.
& of course I have to taste everything new or he pretends it couldn't possibly be food. Thank goodness he's cautious really - wouldn't want him eating something he shouldn't - but then he might, so just in case we keep all that’s inedible hidden - we even did a de-planting of our place. It's nice to hear about a new parrot & how/what it learns. Beautiful photo of Doyle, in your profile by the way
