Beautiful,touching pic. Made me cry!
I found this on flickr. It's called 9/11 fireman and bird. I cant' find any other info about it.
I imagine it's simply a 9/11 fireman with is devoted bird. But maybe there is more to it. Anyway, how gorgeously sweet and proud is that macaw, with his fire department badge? I'm weeping just looking at it. Those two look devoted to each other. And the macaw looks so proud. I wish I knew more about the story behind this picture!

What a great pic! I was just at a parrot show on long island and met a golden retriever who was at ground zero with her owner, a police officer. The officer showed me a great pic of the golden at ground zero helping with the recovery effort. The officer carries the pic around with him in his wallet.

That is an EXCELLENT picture!!
I didn't think the firefighter looked ALL that comfortable with the bird.... not many bird owners hold their arm out like that when our Macs are on us... too darned heavy. But he definitely looks pleased w/ the bird! It looks more like he is at a press conference so he is holding the bird up so they can get a better shot. There must be some heartrending story behind this, like it's his best friend's bird who died in 911 or something like that. I don't think the bird would have actually been in the WTC, those were all offices, weren't they?

I also attended memorials with Sampson. He wore a little red white and blue bandana. So many people, in tears, and seeing Sam made them smile.
Sampson was well known in his hometown. It is amazing the power of love from our feathered companions.
