Lighting

I have lots of questions! But I have to ask because you guys know everything! What kind of lighting do you all have for your birds? How long do you leave the lights on during the day? And can you recommend a type of light or website to buy some from? Thanks!

Do a search on the board for "full spectrum lighting." This topic is coming up SOOOO often now that I'm getting burnt out on it!

Those are the same lights I have. There were also ones with a 12in wide reflector, but the 7in are a few bucks cheaper. I'm still trying to find the proper bulbs though. I couldn't find a 4ft bulb with a CRI rating over 91. I'm still looking for a place that I can purchase just what I need (8) and not a case of 25---which I can't afford at the moment.

As for their current set up, my fids are in the dining room. I turn the ceiling lights on about 30 minutes after they are uncovered (about 7:30am) and they stay on until 9pm when it's night-night time. There's 3 60watt bulbs in the ceiling light.

Rock on, Crystal. I'm glad you were able to find them (was I right on the price or what?).

Now hopefully you can get rid of those other ones...

Thanks Conure & Macaw Mom, unfortunately HD is where I looked the first time. Very frustrating to have to check every bulb there! Of course there were 2 teenagers working that never asked if I needed help. When I looked over the catch their attention--suddenly they had to go to other departments. Whatever.

I just asked my boss where he gets the bulbs for the garage. He said from a guy next door. Duh, never throught the ELECTRICIAN would know where I can find them I'll be speaking with him tomorrow.

Feathers: I don't mean to sound stupid but I'm not really sure what CRI is. This is whats it says on the package. 48 inch, 32 watts, T8/DX Philips Home Light, Daylight Deluxe. Light output: 2800 Lumens. Energy used: 32 watts. Life: 24,000 hours. Color rendering:85 Color Temp: 6500K I don't think any of this is what you asked but its all it says. Crystal
