Help with Nemo

Hello.

I have some more questions. :-)

A good website on information explained that baby birds should be able to get as much millet spray as they want. What is the age considered of a baby bird? When do you take the millet spray away in hopes that the parrot will try other things you are trying, like veggies? Do you take in away gradually? For example, offer little pieces over a few days until you are only offering it a few times a week? I notice that Nemo will often eat his seed and his millet spray and his little plate of safflower seeds/veggie nuttriberries..but some days I swear it looks like all he has touched is the millet spray. If you take away the millet spray always being in the cage, how long do you go before you put it back if you can't really see that he is eating the other items you are offering? I don't want him to go hungry.

I have had Nemo now four weeks on Sunday. It has not been an easy four weeks because at first he had to take medication twice a day for ten days, and then he had a bandage on his foot...and then I was sick myself with a stomach bug. I see that he is playing with his toys. I see the "damage" to the toy..and see him swinging and playing. He seems happy. But he does not want to come out of the cage. He flies all around, and is upset. Then when he is out he tries desperately to get away from me and only wants to go back in to the cage. What do I do? I feel like I can't train him to "step up" before he wants to come out of the cage. I have a play gym for him but he is not interested. I sat and played with it and he was chirping away..he sounded excited and I was excited. And then I took him out and nothing. He won't go near it. To get him out of the cage I have to take a small towel, and carefully scoop him out of the cage, that is what I need to do to get him back in the cage, too. I opened the cage to do that last night, and he was flying all over..it was sad..so for the first time I just closed the cage and sat and sang and read to him.

I am sorry for the long post but would appreciate your thoughts and advise
