When I first got Pita, I discovered that he is a very clever thief. Here he is in the great Ice Cube Caper of '06

First he scopes out the cube of choice


once he finds the perfect cube, he goes in for the kill

Wow,Cheddy is a wus when it comes to ice.He shakes his beak spastically if something is too cold.Must be those Colorado birds are tough!

Autumn, Chucky and Skoobie Doo all do like to eat Ice Cubes. They all actually think of them as Treats. Typically I'll float a cube or two in their bowls each day and they'll play with and pick up and chomp it down.

Birds are soo "cool"... LOL.

There seems to be something about the cold on the tongue that they like - not sure what it is since the rainforest isn't exactly known for its glaciers. I haven't introduced ice cubes to the boys and Corina really isn't interested in them. However, you've given me some ideas as far as birdie entertainment... Thanks!

Our B&G Macaw, Harley, LOVES ice. If we try to give him water without ice in it he sticks his beak up in the air and looks at us like "are you nuts? where´s my ice?" On the other hand Phoenix, our CAG, HATES ice. If we try to give her water with an ice cube in it she will promptly pick it up and throw it as far as she can. Aren´t our fids something?

Funny thing is that if I put an ice cube in his water bowl, he freaks out....lol Won't go near it.....stands on top of his cage staring at it. But if it's anywhere near my mouth, it's is. Parrot rule # 8
