I came home yesterday to find my beautiful superb parrot Petie on the bottom of the aviary struggling to stand up right. He kept rolling around each time he tried, he managed to climb his way up on the wire once but couldnt get past a foot high the second time he tried, He tried to walk but would just lunge forward onto his chest. Anyway rang vet and she said it sounded like he is concussed. Can you guys think of anything else it could be? I kept him inside in a cage in the spare room over night, but he still hasnt come off the bottom of the cage. I cant see any wounds, he doest have that sick look some birds get before they die? So I have no idea. I dont have much money to be able to get him tested for anything I just have to hope that god is on his side.

Dont know what to do?

When birds show signs of illness, they are usually very sick. It is best to keep him warm. He needs a vet. Will your vet look at him and take payments? He needs to get to a vet immediately. Is he eating and drinking? Puffy?

If ya don't have money to properly A.V. him immediately - then ya find a way to get it IMO

..... Try the payment plan or whatever, just get the poor thing to the A.V. asap.

Yes he will be taken to a vet so please dont jump on my back about that. Im just asking if anyone has come across this kind of thing before.

He is not eating or drinking and no sign of droppings

I'm sorry to say that this does not sound good at all. Can you get him in to an emergency vet? He probably will not survive the night. He needs hydration. He can go without food but not water. I think it is almost morning in Australia right now. Can you get him to a vet right away? Like first thing in the morning?

LOL its well past morning its 2pm. Have spoken to the vet I rang yesterday and taking him to see her at 6. So fingers crossed.

He's a Superb Parrot. So beautiful and they are of the sweetest natures.

How is he doing now? What kind of bird is he? Will he take a grape or some type of fruit that will hydrate him a little?
