Anyone's bird do this?

The other day I had Gabby out and I was sitting at my computer when I clicked on a music video. Gabby was on my lap playing with some toys and all of a sudden she went into an attack mode, running at my hand with her mouth open, eyes pinning like crazy. I threw a hand towel over her head while I turned off the music and in a few minutes she calmed down.
Then...... today, she is again sitting with me happily shredding a carrot and getting scritches when two rooms away my husband starts vacuuming. All of a sudden Gabby goes nuts again. Thankfully my husband happened to turn off the vaccum and I yelled to him not to turn it on again till I got Gabby into her cage which I did with a perch as she was still lunging for me.
She has never reacted to noise before like this, she is about 4 1/2 months old and never maliciously bites me. She has not had a bad experiences with the vacuum or the radio for that matter either.
Has anyone else's bird reacted like this before?

One of the problems with our pet birds is that they often bond with us. In the wild, when something potentially dangerous comes near a pair, the male will often chase the female away to a safer spot. Since you are so much larger and he couldn't defend you, he is trying to make you move away from the danger. They are complicated little pets.

this sounds awfully like a description of Valo when he attacked one of my friends without any obvious reasons. i inquired in the conure forum about possible reasons, and i got convinced that it originates from the urge to protect (trust the outlaw )

Thank you for your replies, they make sense. I just hope she doesn't feel the need to protect me too often especially if she actually bites me.
