They do that here too, especially for breeders. But now that my AV has moved 5 minutes from my house, it's even easier to get in to his office.

LOL Tara - actually, after the last hurricane last year we went out bought a vehicle that will hold everyone; dogs and cats included!

Some states it is ILLEGAL for vets to make house calls. Jersey is one.(unless they changed the laws, but I am not aware of it) While some still do, its up to the owners to keep it quiet. I have had several come, but never gave names to protect them.
