How 2 celebrate with your bird?!

I just got exciting news - one of my papers is accepted for publication is a pretty good scientific journal . So, after doing my revisions I'll be celebrating tonight!

I'm thinking of preparing a special meal for my little fid (before I put him to bed and head out for a drink for myself) and was considering:
*) fine grated carrots
*) a little more apple than usual
*) add some seeds - sunflower, since the little guy loves them
*) sprinkle the meal with birdie banana treats (his training treat)
*) have a small piece of birdie bread on the side

And for a good cheers, serve filtered water for Valo and tea for myself.
The meal will be rounded up with extra head-scratches and cuddle time with mommy. I might also dig out the (back-up) toy I haven't given to him yet.

Please let me know how you celebrate with your bird....

I could buy them new toys but to be honest, they would much rather have grevillia & bottlebrush branches from the back yard!

Congratulations on your paper! Which journal is it accepted into?

I'm sure your baby will simply be happy being with you - they can sense our emotions so well that I'm sure he will pick up on your good mood

I'm working in the plastics field... it got into Macromolecules, which I certainly one of the better ones for polymers (the nice part about it is that the work only took me 3 months, and writing it wasn't that big of a deal either - and it just sailed through )

I had good dinner for him, which he liked - we said cheers with water and tea as planned, and he spent lots of time just hopping around on me.
Seems like he did sense my emotions - why else would he have gotten up when I came home from my drink? So he got some extra cuddle time between sleeping....

Wow, that's great that you got such a fast publication, pretty rare! I'm a chemistry major myself but I have been working more in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology field. Currently I do proteomics work.

Congrats again!

thanks... biochemistry and molecular biology - way to go! that's the future in my opinion. (to my shame, i have to admit that i have no idea what proteomics deals with - maybe you can shed some light on this dark spot of mine )
we're working on biopolymers in the groups, trying to make them more applicable for a wider range of applications. so, i came across some biochem too...

Proteomics is basically the study of the structure and function of proteins, as well as protein interactions. My lab is focused on identifying proteins through mass spectrometry - trying to figure out the amino acid sequence.

I originally wanted to go more towards your route, polymers or inorganics, but I am very glad that I stumbled into an internship doing protein work back in undergrad and I have wanted to continue on that route from then on.

hey, so you and your work are the future. i'm TA for a bioprocess class, which is taught by a chemical engineer (that guy i can actually understand ) and a molecular biologist (hard, hard time to follow the whole story, but i learnt a lot about proteins, enzymes, genetic manipulation etc..... love it). i really think, that that's the future for production. i mean, what alternatives do we have? and look at all the pharmazeuticals currently - if we run short of oil and we don't change our path, we'll only have to wait for a system of "rich can afford to stay healty, poor - too bad". but that's a whole other discussion. i think your field is great - if i was just better with memory, i'd love to do that. i'm bad with memorization, so engineering is good for me (don't remember, need a piece of paper to derive equation we're stupid)

right on - science geeks unite (maybe we can find some more around here ); once a geek, always a geek.... (could there be a DNA sequence responsible for that?!)
