Fresh Food for Bourke

Hi,

My adventurous Bourke parakeet loves fresh green food. So far, she has accepted all green food. I have tried romane lettuce, grated carrot, broccoli (sp?), raspberry, strawberry, etc. She also eats dried greens of all kinds. What other kinds of fresh green food can she have? She LOVES broccoli! She loves to eat the ends of the Broccoli. Can she has calliflower? I keep reading that birds can have thawed green vegetable mixes. Are there any types of green food that cannot be feed to Bourke parakeets?

Thanks and hope to hear from you,
Ramona

Bourkes can eat the same vegetables and fruits that other parrots can eat as well, discluding avocado. I believe calliflower is fine, though I haven't fed any to my bourkes or other birds yet (we rarely have calliflower around).

Avocado is dangerous if fed, so you'll want to stay away from that, and pit seeds from grapes, apples, and cherrys (though have heard otherwise as well about grape and apple seeds). Thawed, or cooked vegetables are fine for all of your birds.
