Rock Pebbler? What's a freakin Rock Pebbler?!
Well, whatever it is, there's one in quarrantine in my library right now.
rock pebbler regent parrot I know it's incredibly STUPID to go to a bird fair without a spotter to talk sense into me, and bring home an impulse purchase of a bird I never heard of before. But when I heard her sweet voice, I could NOT resist. |

Thanks, Outlaw.
I actually posted 2 links above but they don't look like links -- I'll try again. http://cageaviar.tripod.com/rockpebbler.html http://www.avianweb.com/regentparrots.html She is sweet but not tame. I'm going to work with her a bit and see if she'll become a shoulder bird. If not, she can just hang out and say "fweet, ptoo!" to her heart's content. |

Wazookepper, The rock pebbler (regent parrot as it is called here in Aus) is another lovely Australian parrot. Polytelis anthopeplus.
It inhabits a small pocket of land in south eastern South Australia and across the border into noth western Victoria and south western New South Wales. It also inhabits a larger portion of land in south western western Australia and upwards to about Perth in WA. The male has an almost olive/yellow green back and black wing feathers that turn to blue on the flight feathers. Its alos has a rather larger area of yellow on the wing (shoulder area) and a long black tail. The female has no black on its wings and has a smaller yellow spot on its shoulder area. Its tail is green compared to the male and it is reasonably lighter more fluro green than the males olivey yellow green. It is nice to see mroe and more people over sea's purchasing Aussie parrots compared to larger south american and african species. Im just glad we get to live with these beautiful things all day everyday in the wild. hope some of this info helps you.
