Well it finally happened....

I never anticipated it would happen to ME... but it did.

One of my birds has decided he doesn't love me very much anymore.
He's found someone else to love.

Oscar the Meyers has turned on me in a big way. No reason, really...
Nothing traumatic, nothing scary happened. He just decided he loves my
daughter Nina more than me. A LOT more than me!

He's been biting the crap out of me for the last several days every time I
go to get him in -OR out- of his cage. Eventually, he lets me handle him just fine,
but initially, he's not my "buddy" anymore. :(

But he Loooooooves Nina! Oh boy! Just the sight of her and he's dancing around on his perch,
or swinging and bobbing upside down while he calls to her with kissing sounds. (the brat! BOTH of them!)
LOL

I'm not really taking it personally. I know this happens with lots of birds
with more than one family member to choose from. But sheesh, I do all the WORK!! ;)

Boy - that's a bummer! Maybe he'll come around. Good thing you have your new grey (Timi?) to keep you company! Maybe he got jealous?

I'm sorry Savvy!! I know what it's like not to get love back for the work you do (my IRN), but the love from the others still makes me feel special, as I'm sure your others love you still!
*Your daughter has a pretty name :D *
Does she pronounce it with a long "i" sound or a "ee" sound?

Thanks everyone, for your encouragement and comments. :)
I'm not sure if he's Jealous or not, because he's never
been the ONLY bird here.
Pippin (Ekkie) was here before he was.
Timi (TAG) came to live with us about 2.5 months ago,
and up until just last week everything with me and Oscar seemed fine.
He always has a bit of a 'tude with the other birds though.
He's got "Short Man Syndrome" I think....

The other two still love me a whole bunch! ;-)
But just to be sure it stays that way, I've started whispering
to them about the others in the house - spreading rumors! -LOL-

Oscar seems very happy; chattering, clicking and whistling, mimicing sounds, chewing toys, etc.
He's eating well, too (even though
he is the shrimpiest Meyers I've ever seen!).

Nina just "does it for him" I guess. ;-)

LWA; it's pronounced "Nee-Nah" Is that how you say your name?

Savvy*

Well, My Nina is named after an older cousin of mine, and also because I'm Italian and "Nina" is both Italian and Spanish for "girl" or "Little girl".
I also used to be a big All My Children fan, and way back when there was a character named "Nina". You are probably too young to remember that even if you know of the show. :-)
I think you and my daughter are close in age if I'm not mistaken...?
she will be 25 on Valentine's Day.

Hey I used to watch AMC ages ago (in the Middle East which was several years behind the USA), I remember Nina and Cliff and daddy Palmer Cortland. My fave character was Erica Kane though!

I currently watch Bold and Beautiful becuase it is on just as I get home form work. We only just started getting General Hospital a couple months ago with a 2 month lag to the USA. I remember it from the old days of Luke and Laura, can't hardly recoginze all those new characters who are aparently the kids of the old ones I remember. I like that girl who is a singer-Brooklyn-I love that song she was working on but couldn't find an album for sale anywhere.

I have never heard Nina pronounced Nye-na, only Nee-na.

This has happened in my house. Our cockatoo loved my daughter for the first year and then decided she was madly in love with my son. She hs never bitten my daughter but does try to scare her out of the room when my son is there.

Just recently our Diego nanday who was the love of my husband's life for three years decided she preferred me. Before she would scream and bite if my hands came anywhere close to her. Now she loves and snuggles me but screams and bites if my husband's hands come anywhere near her while I am in the room.
If I am out of the room and she can't hear me my husband can then handle her. But they don't have that close loving relationship anymore. I feel terribly guilty even though I never encouraged her. Plus my two conure boys who have had possesion of me for five years now have to share and they can't stand it.
We are hoping that it is hormones and she will go back to my hubby some day. I love her and enjoy cuddling her but this has really disrupted our birdie time.
Lynda
