To much time in his happy hut?

Scooter my parrotlet with he bad foot spends lots of time in his happy hut. I put it in his cage so he could be able to rest his other foot but my concern is if he spends to much time in there will he suffer from lack of exercise and become overweight? Should I pull the happy hut during the day and put it in at nite for him? Or just leave it in because he needs the time to rest?

Poor little guy. If he don't excercise he may get fat. Maybe just take it out for a few hours, then put it back so he can rest, then out, etc. It may help. I'm sure someone who knows will come along & help you out. Crystal

lots of people have sleeping cages (i don't) where they place the happy hut, and a day cage without it. i have the hut in the cage at all times, since i sometimes come home late (always a nice welcome, when valo sticks his head out of the hut to welcome me).
i'd take it out for a few hours as a try, and see how he reacts. you can increase the duration without the hut as you go, or set up a sleeping cage.
if he gets enough exercise out of the cage, i wouldn't worry so much about it.
