Unhappy Avian Naturals

Does anyone feed this to their birds? I got a free sample at parrot palooza, and surprisingly, my budgies actually like it. When I tried to buy some today, the shipping, for a 1 lb bag and one toy, was $13!!!! I emailed them, and they said that if I buy 6 lbs, it will be more cost effective. Am I nuts, or is this a lot of money? My husband won't let me buy it because of this, and it makes me sad that I finally found something they like, and now I can't buy it. Does anyone buy this food that is willing to split the shipping cost? Anyone in the NE PA area, or in north or central nj?

I feed a lot of avian naturals (dry and cook mixes). The shipping is a little high - but I try to feed a big variety. So I wait till they're having a sale or special and then stock up. They're also members of the Avian Advantage Buyers Group so I get a discount through that - I think it's like 5% off - sometimes you can combine it with whatever sale they're having - sometimes not.

I feed Avian Naturals also. Their shipping is is very outrageous but like Stephanie said I use it as part of Ro's diet, I buy it on sale and stock up when they have specials. The coupon code that is sent out every month in their news letter typically cancels out the shipping cost. If you go to their website I believe there is a place to sign up for their newsletter and every month, usually the first full week of the month an e-mail newsletter is sent out containing the discount code. Novembers hasn't come yet.

Ro loves Avian Naturals. She gets Sammy's Just say No House Select Blend(allergy fruit free cage mix), dehydrated veggies and Beak Smackin Breakfast

Kristy - I believe we are ordering it at the store (BP); hopefully we will have it in shortly. Not sure what the price is though. You can call me in about a week at the store and I'll let you know. We should have it by then (hopefully).

Oh Kathie, that's great. I checked your website and saw you didn't have it, but glad you are getting it.

I haven't heard of this brand before. Is it supposed to be better than the other major brands?

I don't know if it is better than other stuff. But it is lots of fresh foods mixed together, with minimal seed, and my parakeets actually ate it. They are extremely picky about their food, so when they ate it, I immediately went in search of more.

You can read about it at www.aviannaturals.com
