Looking for Budgie Breeders in Central FL Area

Hi all,

I suppose I'm officially the "bird lady" at work now lol. Long story short, my co-worker's daughter (8 yrs old) has been wanting a bird, met her friend's budgie, fell in love, and now wants one of her own. Her mom and I have talked -- that whole, "Ok, you do what you're getting yourself into?" chat and I'm pretty confident they understand the amount of work involved and that the bird is going to be more mom's responsibility than the daughter's.

Anywho, I've recommended getting a baby bird from a responsible breeder (esp with the psittacosis thing going on here right now), but I can't find any breeders who aren't at least an hour's drive away from us. (We're in Orlando, FL.) I've Googled and checked birdbreeders, birdnways, avianbiotech, -- no luck.

Anyone know any budgie breeders hiding out here you could refer me to?

Yup, along with posting on here, I've been trying to contact breeders -- just haven't found anyone in Orlando yet! Unfortunately, Jacksonville is a 4 hour drive from here and Hastings is pretty far too. Thank you for looking though. :)

Definitely try contacting the budgie clubs then, as they may be able to put you in touch w/ someone in your county or perhaps someone who would be willing to meet you half-way.

I always forget how HUGE FL is!

I was flipping through the Budgies magazine that Bird Talk puts out every few years. There were some resources for FL. I'll try to remember to bring it in to the office tomorrow and will post what I find.
