Thanks for the tip!

I'm always psyched to hear about good parrot books.
I can't get enough of that particular genre! I just wrote that info down and gave it to my hubby as my "first Christmass hint" of the season.
I also really loved "The parrot who owns me" (I can't remember the author). It's about a red lored amazon (an older bird, most likely wild caught originally) who lives with two scientists (ornithologists) as his "retirement" home after his original 2 spinster sister owners have to go to the old folks home.
For those who haven't read it:
It's an amazing story because he falls in love with the wife of the pair, and being ornitholoigsts, they just let him be a bird and yet also totally include him in the family. They let him tear apart a leather recliner to build a nest inside, for example - they just let him run the show because they're so fascinated to see how he will behave if they just let him do his "bird thing".

And he turns out to be a really intelligent, interesting family member!
I totally enjoyed that book and have even re-read parts of it. It would make a great X mass gift for a bird lover who had never read it...
