Question Am I being mean?

I have one parrotlet. He had a mate who died 4 months ago. He is a rehomed bird who I have had a week. Where he was before, there were lots of other birds (I do have two parakeets he sings to), including two other parrotlets.

I found some videos on youtube of parrotlets, and I sometimes play them for him. He looks around, tilts his head, and then calls to them or sings to them. Am I being mean by making him think there's another parrotlet around who is ignoring him?

Don't know, but why not get him another friend?
You know the old saying: "Take two - They're small!"

NO! Lol, I just got my 2 budgies a month ago, and then I got him a week ago. Going from no birds to 3 in one month is enough. And I don't have the money to shell out for another parrotlet anyways right now. Going to England in less than a month, and then christmas. Maybe I can ask for one for christmas, lol. But good idea. He is not tame, and I am working on taming him, so I would be afraid of letting him bond with another parrotlet now.

The bird sitter videos out there are recordings of other birds on DVD. Wouldn't be any different.

Are the cages close together, so they can see each other? Maybe he wouldn't be lonely if he could interact a little with the parakeets.

They are in the same room. I think he could see them if he tried too, but I haven't caught him looking at them. He is doing very good today. Up until now, he was just sitting in a corner of the cage, but today he was moving all around the cage, so I think he is finally settling in.
