Lightbulb BF just learned about cage cleaning!!!!!!

I have been deep cleaning the tiels cages on Sun when Bf has been out and about roaming.....

Well.... today after seeing the size of a macaw poop ..... I figured I would just do the deep cleaning on the tiel flight cages today

Though I needed to give dearest BF an idea of the weekly chore ... that HE (macaw will be HIS bird...so will the cage) would have to do.....

Started with just gettin tiel cages outside ... go and get garden cart and take them one at a time to side of house and large wooden spools....

Let dear BF know .... the cage he wants for macaw will NOT fit out front door..... we will have to take windows out of dinning room .... put in french doors and deck ... to get large double macaw cage outside to deep clean weekly.....

Then I get out hose, sprayer (with vinegar and water mix, half and half) and a scrub brush.....

Tell Bf ... I will do one cage ... you do the other for "practice".... but inform him ... hose will not work with macaw cage ... will need pressure washer and you will STILL need to use scrub brush....

We start cleaning, hosing and scrubbing .... then rise 3 times..... leave cages out to air/sun dry.....

A little over an hour later ..... BF is totally discusted...... and smelling like vinegar is done cleaning his cage.... beelines to shower.... biotchin about smelling like a douche...

He asks .... you have to do THIS weekly??? ... yes darling ..... and have to wipedown/clean cages daily also... we just got the "stuff that the daily wipedown and paper changing did not get....

He asked ... what about that poop off stuff ... told him that would do for the daily wipedown .... but weekly deep cleaning still has to be done....

Told him .... this is what I'm doing EVERY Sun while you are out roaming in the county and at the bars..... this is part of having birds ..... and I will not clean the macaw cage ..... will fix food and do dishes for macaw but not cage duties..

Oh... and darling ... the playstand will also need daily cleaning ..... and weekly deep cleaning....

He went back to his macaw lists .... and tore one of them up!!!!

And picked up a Harley parts catalog....

Do you think I made a point ..... and we still have to get tiel flight cages back in house.... will probably have to do that by myself now....

Suz

Good one!
I have been cleaning today. I love my hoover floor scrubber, it makes short work of bird poo! Hubby carries Stella all over the house and she is NOT house trained.

I don't think he liked that much. You are right & he will have to learn to do all this if he wants the bird. I don't like cleaning the big Macaw cages either but its part of the job. I love my babies so that makes it all worth it. Crystal

lol - very entertaining story.... and it soo much reflects the truth about other parts of life too
can't get a birdie, if you're not willing to deal with poop cleaning and cage cleaning... people always mention the amount of work for fishtanks, but seriously - it's almost a joke compared to the bird stuff (cage and playgym and all the stuff they throw all over the house... clean up the room, 5min later they reverse it)
great post

Ahhh the joys of birdie companionship. I just finished a day of cage cleaning for the 3 amigos. I don't have the luxury of taking the cages out. The stuff that can be removed goes outside for a power wash. The main frames of the cages got the indoor Avi-clean and steam treatment.
