I just use newspaper easy to change a couple of times a day. I did hear that the colored paper was hazardous. So I just use the black and white.

I just use the catalogues that get sent out...we get so many of them that i figure i might as well use them lol. from the grate to the bottom of the cage is a fair distance so the bird cant reach it anyway so no need to worry.

I usually use paper towels. I don't get a daily paper but I always have a roll of paper towels on hand ;)

LOL.. That's smart. I have tons and tons of magazines around here. I've just never used them because of the glossy finish. I figured that it wouldn't absorb as good as newspaper. How does it do?

I use newspaper/catalogues too and haven't had a problem. (knock on wood) The glossy pages do fine, I usually put one big sheet of newspaper down and then lots of the glossy pages on top, and then I can just grab the sheet underneath the glossy, roll it up and toss it out.

the only place I can't use paper is underneath my gyms in the living room because of the other animals- the cats think that newspaper is a litter box, and the ferrets think that newspaper is great fun to drag off and spill all it's contents all over the floor

Soooo I started using Coroplast. It's plastic coated cardboard, what they use for yard signs. I've been using it for ferret/guinea pig/rabbit cages for years with great results. So I got a peice about the color of my wood floor, cut it to fit under the gyms, and now I just take the whole thing outside and shake it and hose it off or do a fast whipe up. It's amazing how easy it comes up.

Another great idea! I will run out today and get some. Although, I'll still use papers on top of it, by doing so should protect the stand bottom. I am all about making things last.
