Sleep things

Hi everyone -

Sleep thing 1) I had a terrible dream about Humphrey last night. Probably prompted by reading about Stacey's dilemma about not being allowed to bring Bindy into Australia. I'm working on getting my British husband a Green Card so we can move to the US. Unfortunatley, from what I can tell, it looks like Humphrey may have to go into quarantine when we bring him into America. Well, I had a dream about this, and it was slightly incorrect, as dreams sometimes are. I dreamed that Animal Control authorities came to my house to get Humphrey and put him in quarantine. I was screaming and crying and throwing myself at their feet, "Don't take Humphrey!! Please don't take him!" When I woke up, my face was wet with tears. I even got up and uncovered Humphrey to look at him (Sorry Humph, for interrupting your sleep). My husband has terrible recurring dreams about Humphrey being hurt or flying out the window.

Number 2) For the whole year and a half I've had him, Humphrey has slept on a certain perch, snuggled up to his birdie buddy. I uncover him in the morning and he's still there. However, for the last week, every night he's slept on the other side of the cage, on his concrete nail trim perch. Any idea why this could be?

Thanks, Michele and Humph

I'm sorry to have initiated scary thoughts :(

Humph is a trooper...he will make it through any challenge by the sounds of it!

Is it warmer on one side of the cage?...maybe radiator on that side?

Believe me Stacey, it's not your fault!! Hearing that you have to be parted from your dear Bindy makes me thankful that I can bring Humphrey to America at all!

Hard for me to tell if it's warmer on that side...but it's a thought! I'm going to investigate the room.

Thanks,
Michele and Humph

Thanks, Yehuda -

Thanks for the info and the interesting idea! I can't imagine leaving Humph in quarantine. I mean, could I visit him? Could I specify his diet and toys? Plus he is not used to being confined to a cage. It's a nightmare, and I thank you for the info.

How do they prove the 30 days in Canada? Isn't it true that American citizens do not need passports or visas to go to Canada so how would they know how long you were there? Michele, maybe you could just fly into Canada and have one of your family drive up there, collect Humphrey and bring him back. But then you have to check requirements for Canada......maybe not so bad as Canada and UK are both Commonwealth.

That's something I was thinkng about, Tiki!

None of this will happen until at least 6 months from now, but I'm terrified. I called up and you can't even visit your bird for 30 days.

Thanks for the help/thoughts.

You can't even VISIT???? That is so awful--poor little Humphrey being all alone in there! How do these jerks expect imported pets to survive without even any contact form their loved ones? These gov't officials are such heartless bas*****!
