An "avian veterinarian" is someone who is willing to treat birds; any veterinarian can call him/herself an avian veterinarian. A "certified avian veterinarian" is one who has obtained certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP).

I did this interview back in July at the Parrots 2006 conference. The important thing to remember is that we can't treat your bird over the internet. If your bird is sick, please use to links below to locate one nearest to you. If there isn't one near you, take your bird to a normal vet and ask him/her to liase with a specialist avian vet.
