Laurie, How are things going?

I was wondering if you've implemented any of my suggestions for Elwood Blue and the Toos? If they work great, but if they don't, I need to know that too. After all, we all like to know what to do if we have similar problems. With all of the busy Christmas stuff, you may not even have had time to try any of them.

Thanks for asking - I have tried feeding in the cages, and it works well except for Ms. Cookie. She refuses to eat in her cage, and after 2 days of her not eating I couldn't let her go without....................
As for Elwood, I have learned that he enjoys being on the floor and running around the house. He visits in the bird room, walks around the kitchen, etc. With winter upon us here in Florida all of the birds are in the living room so they can see what we are doing; our kitchen is open to the living room. They each get their mommy time while I am cooking or doing laundry, and even hubby helps with the "mommy" time thing. I then put them in their cages for their dinner, bring them back out for a little bit, and put them in their nite nite cages. Seems to work well............ Elwood is still screaming, and yesterday morning it was so bad that I covered him for a few minutes to let him know it was unacceptable!

Laurie:

I think that our Elwood is simply growing up. By that I mean he is probably in the throes of hormonal hell. I would start reducing his seed intake immediately. Bring it down to less than 1/4 c a day. Give it to him just before he goes down for the night.

Frankly, BGs need a lot of out time and playtime. They are athletic and curious creatures. Fortunately, they really aren't flock animals like scarlets. They tend to stay in family groups. You are, of course, part of that group, so he really needs to be around you as much as possible. By having only one BG (that's just crazy ) he has no one to play with. These guys are really party animals. I know the distraction of the holidays makes all things more difficult, but I know this will pass. Ignore him as much as you can. PLEASE don't try to out scream him (I know its hard) and reward him whenever he's being good. My guys LIVE for praise. My bootcamp is still at your disposal if all else fails.

Funny you should mention having only one B&G - I told hubby last night I think it would be great to get him a playmate! Heck - what's one more?
We don't try to outscream him; I am trying different things to get his attention; the squirt bottle works well, as does covering him. And yes, when he is a good boy and his screaming has stopped, if only for a minute, I go to him and tell him what a good boy he is and allow him to step up.
They have weaned babies for $800.00 here; not sure a young one would be a good thing?
