Pomegranate Question!!

Seymour and Jack LOVE pomegranates (as much as I do!) and I know that they are only in season for a little bit. Does anyone know if I can peel the pomegranate's and freeze the seeds, so I can give them some in the off season?

I found this on HGTV.com

Refrigerate seeds up to three days. Freeze in single layers on trays, then pack in airtight containers. Freeze pomegranate seeds up to 6 months.

I refrigerate my seeds for a lot longer than 3 days- one pomegranate will last Ollie about a week- and it stays good in the fridge for at least that long.

Thanks for the freezing tip though! Does anybody know when pomegranates go out of season? I can't remember...

I read on a website about someone in CA that buys them by the case load and freezes them for later. I think I remember they just cut them up in chunks. Of course I can't find the website when I looked for it a min. ago.

They always seem to be like oranges--around in the winter.

Yeah, they showed up at walmart about a month ago, and I'm thinking their season is about 3 months?? So will they still be around into January? Or later? Anybody know for sure? I want to stock up for freezing before they go away and don't come back, but I don't want to stock up too soon!

are the pomenrantes the red things that are also called Chinese Apples? if so, do you cut it up and the birds eat the "meaty stuff and the seeds" ? the fruit that gets your hands all red while your eating them ??
