LOL! I know that it means they're contented and happy, but it drives me bonkers, too! I could never sleep in the same room as the birds....

It got bad enough my teeth started hurting from it.

I don't mind it otherwise, just not in my ear!

Got her interested in snuggling instead now... Hard to type with one hand. What a baby!

WOW...REALLY???

I LOVE that sound - whether Tuki's doing it in my ear or in his cage - it actually calms me down and makes me sleepy! He does it at naptime and I fall right to sleep!

How funny, all of mie do that too and it drives Katrin nuts because she too equates that with the chalk board thingy. I on the other hand fall right in with Radiogirl and find myself lulled into a very restful nap when they do that ... and I HATE naps.

Doyle does this too, glad it's because it's happy, I wasn't too sure. The noise doesn't really bother me though. Tiffany

It's a sign of contentment and just down right "Oh Mama, I feeeeel goood" kinda noise thing. Same with when they Streeeeetch when they first see you, that too is a "Oh boy am I glad to see you" kind of thing.
So we stretch too when they do that and get extra cuddles from them for the trouble.

I must say I love that sound too...although I only have small birds so I imagine a cockatoo would sound different! :)

I also love the sound of the birds eating millet sprays when they get them. Call me crazy but the crackling sound it makes reminds me of a fireplace! Very relaxing!
