My dining room is now a bird room. Goliath and Marley both have their cages there. Their playgym is in the living room and I've got another movable perch that I carry from room to room for them. They're only in their cages if they're sleeping at night or when no one is home to watch them. Shiloh's cage is temporarily in our bedroom until quarantine is over. Then she'll move into the dining room with the other fids.

My birds are in the living room. We spend most of our time in here, and we stay here late, usually until about midnight. I cover them at about 9, and they quiet down and go to sleep, even with the tv on and us talking.

OMD, Kristi--that is the sweetest av EVER!!
Ok. Bob, Arthur, Ceilidh and Petey McSweet are housed in what used to be our master bedroom. It's now a bird/computer room. Eddie is in the living room, and the finches are on an antique dresser in our bedroom (I like their little "beep beep beep" noises :-). Of course, during the day, all of the parrots are usually to be found on perches in the living room, where they can flap, play, squawk and eat to their hearts' content with others of their own kind.

Buster is in our bedroom only. It is a huge room, 200 square feet + with a tile floor. She is fully flighted and is allowed full freedom, day and night. The room is secure and must be since our roomate has a cat. Buster does not go into any other room of the house, period. She divides her time between her new playstand (HUGE thing with two levels, lots of cockatiel sized manzanita branches and a "condo" on top, total height 50" and a base measurement of 2 feet wide by 4 feet long. Do you think she loves it?
), her big cage and a little parakeet/cockatiel playstand on our coffee table. She has breakfast right at 8:00 a.m. or a few minutes after and picks throughout the day, and has her dinner pretty promptly, between 7:30 and 8 p.m. After dinner she starts to settle for the night. She sleeps where she chooses, sometimes in her cage, on her cage, or on the big playstand. We begin to dim the lights in our room around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. and turn down the volume on the TV. By 10:00 p.m. the room lighting is very subdued. Buster settles down and goes to sleep about 9:30. Everything is dark by midnight most of the time, but the tv and low lights don't seem to bother her if my partner stays up later. I'm in bed by 11! She sleeps through the night and wakes up about 6:30 or 7. If we're not up by that time, she starts to chirp and move around. If we're not up fast enough, she yells! Nap time is usually around 3 p.m. to about 4. I think she wears a birdy watch. She is very punctual with her routine . |

The tiels have a large vcage in teh living room and they are adapted to our schedule and go to sleep when they are ready. Einstein (CAG) has his large day cage in the living room and a sleep cage in my bedroom so we can put him to bed early! Seems to work out very well!

All of our pet birds are in our dining room. There is no furniture in there, just big cages and their tree stand is in the middle of the room. It has a hardwood floor and we just painted the room tropical green. Any babies we are raising are in the living room. Again, no furniture save one coyote-ugly recliner which is my baby rocking chair. There is also a smaller tree in there, plus the cages and a baby playpen. Also, hardwood. So, basically we only have one furnished room besides our bedroom in the house.
They have taken over....

i really think it all depends on the fid.. some birds will sleep fine with some background noise.. some wont. IMO, i say if u really want him to sleep in the bedroom with you, give it a try.. if he sleep fine then go for it! if he doesnt, maybe he will have to move back to the living room
