What a beautiful baby!!! That's why I don't go near the baby birds in that store. I'd fall in love with one or two or 3 and I'd be whipping plastic!

Here I am!!!!

Leigh is correct..... BP wouldn't let me take this bird home right now. HECK!!! I wouldn't let me take this bird home right now. The baby won't be ready to come home until April or May...... So yes, Don will be putting many miles on the car, every week, to visit this little sweetie!!!

Yes, I do have bird experience, but NOT a baby this young!! I'd rather leave it in their hands and bring it home when I know it's eating very well, on it's own!!

I bought a three month old mini, and was 'promised' that it was weaned. But just in case she 'regressed', I was given a one pound bag of formula to take with me. Well, three days later I noticed she was losing weight, even though I was giving her formula twice a day. Thank God my boyfriend had formula fed before, and was able to step in and show me how to do it properly. FOUR MONTHS later Bella was weaned. Of course I had the best intentions when I brought her home, but it was certainly a scary situation for a while, and now I am flat p***ed when I see salesman handing over babies to people like me who had never formula fed.

BP never sells unweaned birds. I got my Bella from there and held her as a bitty along with a sweet little Jardines. And when you do bring the baby home you have to bring it back to make sure the weight's good. :)

Wow, BP sounds like a fantastic store! We only have pet shops around here (Petland, Petsmart, Petcetera... etc) but nothing for birds. We do have a Parrotdise Perch, but they don't allow birds inside (so no birdies to fall in love with!)

Don, I wish you only the best of luck, and I seriously hope your landlord will feel the same way about a BG as you. They may be loud (we housed one once) but they sure are ADORABLE!

For the record, we absolutely, positively would NOT allow the bird to go home before it is weaned. If you check through some recent posts, I am the person who posted about ANOTHER store that DOES send young babies home unweaned and with inexperienced hand feeders and how upset I was about that. Not to worry - that doesn't happen at BP. If Don decides to go with this baby, he will unfortunately have to wait another 4-5 months before bringing the baby home. Then Don is required to bring the baby back within 3 days (5 at the most) for a weigh-in.
