LOST bird, and the one left behind
So Saturday July 15th, I Had the back screen opened six inches. I was in the process of taking something outside when something spoked Kiwi and Bael. ( my green cheek and White eared Conure) Kiwi is semi clipped( she can fly about 10 feet and gracefully crash to the earth. Where bael had his full wings. We left bael with the ability to fly because it really improved his self esteem.
Bael managed to fly side ways and out the six inches. I immediately ran out side calling to him. he circled frantically and headed for the trees. I put Kiwi out in the outside cage and I called to him. I could here the call and response. we did this for an hour until he was quiet. I called and called. We took Kiwi in small carrier and walked up and down the streets calling for him. We finally found him 4 housing units down. ( about half a block) he was 70 feet up in the top of a big pine tree. I called for 5 hours until it got dark, and the neighbors complained. I finally had to go home, broken hearted that he couldn't come down. ( the fire department won't come out for a bird) So I went home, and started the search over the next day. We haven't heard him since Saturday. I've posted on all sorts of bird sites, called the shelters, and bird stores. Here is the new problem. Kiwi is acting out and badly, she's biting everyone, screaming and being mean and nasty. She won't come to me. However she has decided to bond with my husband. Shes got a bad attitude now and I don't know what to do.I haven't given up all hope on Bael coming home, but each day it becomes more and more obvious a little guy like him might not make it. I don't know what to do. Charity |

Re: LOST bird, and the one left behind
WOW I'm very sorry you have to go through this. I can't imagine how I would feel and deal with a lost bird. Be strong and keep looking. Maybe if you set his cage out with his favorite food he will come to it. Good luck we will put you in our prayers tonight.

Re: LOST bird, and the one left behind
A lot of newspapers will let you run a free ad for a lost animal.. You might look into this. I was at work the other day, and a yellow keet flew right into a chain link fence fleeing from a crow. When it hit the fence, the crow got it.. My co-worker tried to get the keet from it, and it flew in a tree.. I had my pellet rifle in the van, so I got it, and shot at the crow, but missed, and it flew away with the parakeet... I felt sooo bad. I tried to save it, but my shot missed. It is sad to loose a bird, especially that way. I wish you luck finding it. Have you put an open cage out in the yard, with food in it? it will sometimes work.. Sorry this happened to you..
