What I have been doing since i was last on

This janurary my husband and i opened a bird rescue here in Keizer.
In April we filed for our 501c3. it is now October and the wonderful IRS is just now working on it.
they were so back logged it was horrible.
We have a wonderful vet that has been great on getting birds in asap for immediate vet care.

here is a photo of a recent intake.these 2 birds were housed in a bedroom to free fly for 20 years.
boy you should of seen the bedroom.
what a site.
we seperated the 2 until the next day after our vet saw them.
these birds only lived on sunflower seeds for 20 years
we found that seperating them long term right now is not good for the goffin cockatoo but the too has plucked this poor bluefront to death.
so we revamped everything and we put lots of toys in the cage and put the 2 birds in one cage and this keeps the goffin calm....these photos were taken right after we got home and bathe them. thanks donna from Keizer

Re: What I have been doing since i was last on

on adopting these 2 birds out.It is so early to see how they will do.
One thing is the goffin doesnt know how to behave with out the amazon.
She wont eat without him.and then she just hangs on the side of the cage.
so maybe with time and building of trust, and getting these 2 socialized again after all the years that they didnt have.
They might be ready for a good home....but I will keep everyone up to date with there progress with photos and stories of them as we go...thanks donna from keizer
