I Don't Want 2 Be Tooo Excited... But...

We might be getting a little Parrotlet in a month or two! She's a plucker, but she is such a sweetie! And she plucks herself in only certain places. so it makes her look like she has a huge furry head.

I'm curious to know more about you... you said in another thread that you are a bird trainer/you train macaws??? Here we are all thinking your very new to bird keeping and yet you are training macaws??? Come on, spill the beans! What DO you do???

As for the parrotlet, wish you the best of luck with the little one! Although tiny, they don't realize it!

LOL I knew I sounded like an idiot!

Ok here's the low down on me.

I train birds, it's what I do for a living. I'm a 19 year old stay at home mom to a 1 year old and so I find my company in birds! :)

I have Macaw's coming in all the time and all kinds of other birds. I mainly deal with breeders and abused birds, I get the occasional good baby but mainly owners can deal with that themselves and they dont need me. So yes, Macaw bites = the most wonderful part of my job, especially from breeders.

I used to work at a bird shop while in high school and that's how I got into birds. Lately I've been working with a breeder and we're thinking about opening up our own shop soon, she's who I got Zeus from and who I'm getting 2 Parakeets from tomorrow.

I only ask so many questions to make sure I'm right, better to be safe than sorry you know? Plus I dont want to come on here being some big stuck up know it all, which is why I dont respond to as many threads as I should be responding to.

The cage thing, was mainly my idiot senses, working around breeders with breeding cages and baby cages, I was lost. It's all coming back to me now!

We all ask questions; there's nothing wrong with that. How else are we ever going to learn?

Liz, I find that quite interesting! What a joy to be working around birds so frequently!!! And indeed, we all must ask questions at one point or another! I know I still do!

Well let us know how things go then with the new additions!

I will definitely let you know! We're leaving now to go pick up our Parakeets and who knows who else we might bring home in the process!

I will be more knowledgeable on BB from now on. I just didnt want to seem like I was some big know it all.

Liz

Ps. Our vet is Dr. Brian L. Speer himself, (writer of birds for dummies) and so I get a lot of my knowledge from him. His book is like my bible. lol

As long as you at least know what your talking about, don't be hesitant to jump right in! Heck, sometimes I don't even know what I'm thinking but toss out ideas anyway! Sometimes, who knows, they might be useful!

A Parrotlet, how wonderful! I bet she will stop plucking with you. What is her life like now?
I don't hear of too many Parrotlets plucking. Good luck. Parrotlets are fun.

She's a sweetie, she loves men more than women. She's a big flirt, but we'll get around that of course cause I'll be with her 99% of the time.
She is the lone bird of a very nice couple but they cant deal with her plucking and her biting so they're giving her to us for free if we want her. We definitely want her but there's a friend of theirs who want her too. So we are waiting on the "yes" or "no".
