Using their feet over beaks
Do your birds like to use their feet over their beaks to pick up thinks or take things when you hand it to them?
Gillian started doing this about a week ago and I think it is so cute. I think it really shows how she is picking up from us, she sees us doing stuff with our hands all the time so she wants to use them first now too. :D

I always love it when you feed them something and its almost human like when they grab it with one foot and stand on the other and look around and yap there brains out like.... man this is some gooooooood eatin!

It's funny - Humph hardly uses his feet at all, even though he is a psittacine. He never takes food with his feet, the way I've seen Corbett do. The only thing he does is hold toys down with a foot when he's playing extra hard.

Not many parrots actually do. The macaws, zons and Toos do routinely, but my Ekkie rarely does. My Quaker never has either. My greys do, but nowhere as much as the macaws. THE OUTLAW

I love watching them hold their food in their feet; we call them "tootsies" and all of my birds love having their feet massaged and kissed. Of course I make sure that those tootsies aren't dirty; don't need a handful of yuck!

my grey uses his feet alot...he holds food, toys, waves, "shakes" hands, etc....i think willow is right-handed too

My conures will hold food in their feet but when picking something up or taking something from the hand they always use there beaks.
Now my Umbrella Too uses her feet for everything. If you are walking by and holding something she wants she holds her foot out and makes a grabbing motion like a toddler would. Lynda
