So basically, even if you have them tested once, they may still have it because it could be hiding elsewhere in the body. *I guess*

Perhaps testing has improved since 2001. Most vets will insist upon this (along with others) as a test for your first visit to the vet with a new bird. I have a hard time believing they would charge for such a test when it is not really conclusive. I am thinking maybe this article is just outdated?

Neither of the vets I have been to have insisted or even recommended testing for it. Jeeze...you'd think me being in Florida, there would be good avian vets! It's very frustrating.
