It's started

Grace has been starting to practice her imitating.....

We often say to her "Pretty girl!" and give the "wheeet wheeew" wolfwistle.

In the last few days, she has been softly repeating the wolfwhistle....
Today when I opened her cage & took her out, I gave her some skritches & set her back on the edge of the one bowls on her playset. I dropped one of her favourite treats (a grape) into the bowl, gave her a little dry kiss on the beak & I said to her,
"Gracie, you're such a pretty, pretty girl. *Wolfwhistle!* Oh yes, pretty girl."
As I turned back to sit in my computer chair, I heard a very soft raspy, "trrrit- eee- crrrrl....... wheet wheeew".

HOOORAY!!!!

That's fun!

My green cheek conure says "step up" and "poop". "Step up" for obvious reasons. He says "poop" because for some reason he holds it all night. Then in the morning, after I open the door to the cage he comes out of the cage and lets it all out. Whether this was on my shoulder or on top of the cage, I decided to be proactive. So, first thing in the morning I take him out and hold him over the trash can saying "poop, poop". So that's how he learned it. Now in the morning when he's waiting for me to uncover the cage he says "poop, poop". He'll also repeat it while he's over the trash can.

Even better, if I want to put him on my shoulder anytime during the day, I can get him to go first by saying "poop", then I don't have to worry about it for another 23 minutes :)

Congrats to Grace!

Jenny

good job, grace!!!! valo sometimes says things - but i'm sometimes wondering if it's a mom's wishing hearing, or if there's really a word.... he said "valo" once, he says "up" (go figure), and last night he said "hallo baby"

keep going, grace.... hopefully we'll keep getting progress reports

Good job, Gracie! You've only been there a couple months and you have already taught your humans to say "pretty girl"! You must have a brighter than average one there!

Love,
Chaska
