Unhappy Disgusting

Ducky did something that is so disgusting, that my stomach is turning. Despite my stomach turning, I am wondering if this is something that needs to be checked out.

I had a little tiny planter's wart (at least I think that is what it was) on the outer part of my joint on my thumb. It was about the size of two pin heads. I was going to go have it removed by a doctor but unfortunately, Ducky took care of that for me today. Before I knew what happened, he zoned in on it and removed it. He knew he wasn't allowed to do that which is why he did it so quicly. I immediately grabbled him and stuck my finger in his mouth to try and get him to spit it out if he did in fact have it in his mouth. My concern is will it harm him?

I know, this is a very disgusting thing but what is done is done. Do I need to take him to the vet? I am still grossed out to no end.

well, this is a first for me. i would say a call into your vet might be in order, and please let us know what they say. I dont know if you need to go in or not, but a call would be good .

HI, maybe this is a mini macaw thing but my three do this ALL the time. I just thought all parrots can't stand 'imperfections' and try to take them out. For me, this is moles on the back of my neck (they always try and peck at these), dry skin on the lips (My Illiger especially can't stand this), dry, flaky skin on my hands. OH, and of course healing wounds (from bird bites!!!) I thihnk it is a natural preening instinct. I get them back when its pin feather removal time!

This may sound incredibly insensitive and rude, but your post had me rolling on the floor. I could picture the scene vividly (which made it funny) because I used to have a Nanday who would do things just like that, knowing she's not supposed to. Anyway it took me back to her funny endearing ways that I miss so much.
I would also call the vet, as recommended above. I don't think there would be a problem, but I'm no vet.
Good luck with your little darling.

lmao......bailey loves to pick the scabs off he gives me too! i think it is the "preening" thing. cause when i'm finished preening bailey's pin feathers...he returns the kindness by gently holding my thumb and nibbling away at my nail, cuticle, etc.

Yeah, it's a preening thing. Corina does this with Dave - there isn't a hand scab he's had that she doesn't attempt to pry off. she's also attempted to remove bandages on the both of us. Especially the ones from the bird bites.

IMO, I wouldn't bother with the vet. Yes, theres viruses that the fids can get from us, but I don't think this is in that realm.
