Before I even read the story, the picture broke my heart. Makes you wonder how some people have such disregard for life.....poor baby, I just want to give it a hug.

Just got thru browsing the site, and I want all of the birds there. At least a good number of them weren't abused before they came there.

The word needs to get out, that before you buy a parrot, do your research! They are as big of a commitment as a child.......Pet stores especially need to be held responsible for selling these birds to anyone who has the money. In fact, I don't think chain pet stores like Petco & Petsmart should even carry Parrots. Not even parakeets...I can't tell you how many Keets came back injured, sick or dead, because they were sold to people who just wanted a cute pet, and had no idea what so ever whats involved in caring for a bird.

That's why I'm so happy Bee & Hunter got the Baby Sun at my ex- Petco job. I know he will be loved, and safe.

you forgot spoiled-rotten already on the best way for that....

i agree - people should do their research before getting a bird, but also be concious of the fact that they are dealing with a living being with feelings....

Poor Buttercup... I wish that I lived in the SFB area. I'd give the poor dear a home in a heartbeat :(

I just don't understand abandoning your pets. It's hardly as if this is the 1800's and people are having to lighten the load on the wagon, you know? I'm not going to fault someone for realizing that they cannot care for an animal but at least do right by the creature. Call a shelter, rescue, animal hospital... heck, a pet store if you have to.
