What a gorgeous baby! Especially love the second pic! Only makes me think of having my own conure flock someday!

Really the pics aren't great. But it is hard to get cage shots.
I think finding Bandit a home is going to be all but impossible. Quakers and Nandays are very common rescue birds here in Florida. All the rescues, parrot and wild bird get flooded with nanday and quaker babies every spring. Rehoming pretty much untameable adults is really hard. More then likely if he stays in the rescue to long he will come home with me and at least be able to be around other nandays ( Zorro and Diego) who are very sociable to other conures. My highest hopes for this guy is perch training. Sammy the quaker is trying hard to help Bandit feel at home. Here Sammy is reassuring Bandit that he is a " pretty bird". Sammy was a wild quaker baby. he is very picky about his humans ( though I can do about anything with him) but gets along with all birds. Every bird is his best friend. Lynda

I think Nandays are very beautiful - a little mystery behind the striking mask & shiny black beak & that wonderful blue/green-thing that happens on their breast. They aren't that common here - well I've never seen one in the flesh. I didn't know that Nandays were 'wild' in Florida - I was just wondering about all the tropical birds finding the southern states compatible - especially with accidents & all the people who just 'open cages!'. *whisper*[sounds like you're already making room for Bandit, with Zorro & Diego.] |

Nandays seem to be from Sarasota to St. Pete. I heard about a flock of Bluecrown conures in Deerfield beach and have seen a pair or two here.
We even saw a indian ringneck with a flock of quakers. Lynda

Oh your are missing something not knowing a nanday. They do like to scream but they are such loving little clowns.
It is not all tropical birds. Conures and quakers seem to be hardier then the average bird and more adaptable. Quakers because they build there own nest. In fact Florida is not the only place with wild quakers. You can see them in Brooklyn, Chicago, Conneticut, Texas, Lousianna and small flocks in various other places. I still think that they are doing nothing but filling in a niche that was made by the Carolina Parakeet. The Carolina Parakeet was found all over the US. In fact there were Eastren and Western Parakeets. They were conures and slightly looked like maybe a hybrid jenday. Lynda Quote:

No you can't touch him at all right now. I am hoping in the future he will be able to step up on a perch. That way he would be able to come out and socalize with other birds.
At least there are hope for these guys. All of them. We are very picky about homes. Lynda

LOL That is cool Tiki. Quakers and nandays seem to be a good match. They are in the wild also.
