I have lots of birds, but the biggest volume is the little ones (finches) who don't really want to have much to do with me. The canaries and budgies get plenty of attention and treats, but are not hand tamed. So, that just leaves the tiels and ring neck who need a lot of quality time. Figure I can get bigger birds (and a dog) when I retire and don't give so much of my daylight hours to "the man".

Hi there,

I have a question for you. Bp2 = Black Palm Cockatoo, correct? You can get them in Sweden. Hard to find elsewhere from what I understand. They high a hight mortality rate after hatching, mainly from Black Palm disease.

But to answer your question now. I have 4 and some days its hard to give them all my time. Luckily, they all get along pretty well. So even if I dont have them out during the day, our rule is they all come out for at least 3 hours a night to sit with us for T.V time. Most times they are all on the sofa with me and my husband at the same time. They are very well behaved. ( See happy Ekkie Birfday thread for pics).

I am new to having multiple birds (this is our first week). It is hard now because two of my birdies are in quarantine and I feel like I am doing a ton of running around. When my husband is home we split up I watch Doyle and he watches the Danny & Princess. Basically they take up all of my free time, lol. It will be easier when they can all be in one room together.

I have 54,keeping in mind that 24 are budgies,in a huge flight cage not hand tame they live in budgie city, the tiels are free flight, some are more Mommy birds than others, finches are well finches,my jenday is sort of handtamed but he likes to bite,so he's not out much, nanday is out all day, occas. wants to be handled not much, lovebird, not tame working on it,parrotlet not tame she is a major biter! meyers is blind, will allow sm pets, doesn't want to be handled, that leaves the love bugs! 2 quakers,gc conure, and my grey all need Mommy time I try to rotate time out with me,but also try NOT to be too routined that they suffer if I can't be there,or am away,so they never know exactly when they will be out but do know that twice a day they will have food and water, attention, etc, the food ,water, cleaning is very routined, the time is approx within a couple of hours, but I am strict about all of that,no animal should ever wonder "if" they will be fed and watered,my dogs are also routined,it works for me!

I'm home all day. The goons (5 macaws and a conure--but one of the macaws is still at the handfeeder's, and will be for some time) are on perches most of the day. They play with each other, and I take time out to play with them individually and as a group. Ceilidh is the most needy of the flock, as he has no friend to play with, so he probably spends more time actually on my person than the others, but they all get lots of attention. They won't LET me get away with not giving them the attention that they need!

But it is a full time job, for sure. Some don't care for my company (Eddie), so I leave him to Z. Petey McSweet wants to talk, get scritched, and be talked to, but he doesn't like to be held for very long at a time. The three that REALLY need the hands-on attention are Arthur, Bob and Ceilidh. Michael, I'm sure, will be the same way when he comes home.
