I see this every Christmas

7 Yr. old Cockatoo, $500 with cage.

Why does everyone feel the need to sell their family pets near Christmas??? Bet it's for extra shopping money What a shame I feel like calling them to find out the deal. Wish I had the money to buy him/her. Maybe I can find a rescue around here to check this out and maybe take the bird for rehoming. I don't know, it really aggrivates me because you know it's for the money. Why else would someone get rid of their FID during the holidays?

I hate the "great Xmas present" adverts for birds and other pets. Really, really pisses me off.

Yeah, me too! You think it's bad now, just wait until after Christmas when everyone starts getting rid of their "presents" that they don't want!

I just don't understand some people. It's a pet with a heart and feelings, not a cold piece of ice jewellery.

We've got hundreds of those! Someone is selling his Sun Conure out here with the cage for like $300 because he's too loud. Pathetic. I wish I had a million dollars I'd go buy them all.

Yeah I know, some people still think " well it's just a bird ". Stupid people.

Do you guys think that a rescue would be interested in him? You think I should call the people and see what the deal is? I'd hate to find out this bird has behavoral issues and they sell him to someone inexperienced. Then they stick him right back in the paper or worse...I don't want to think about the worse

Either it's a small cockatoo, or I'd guess that the too may have issues... especially if it's $500 with all accessories.... yeah, sadly, you see ads frequently that say "great x-mas present", or 'for sale-'eight below' dogs', or whatever they want to try and make a buck or two!


But putting all things aside, unexpectadly, on December 22nd, 2001, I got a Christmas present of my own!!! Here's my special "X-Mas Pressy"!!!

I went to one of the chain pet stores yesterday, and have never seen so many Cockatiels. I know they were for holiday buyers. Lots of Budgies and smaller parrots too. It was really noticable. One beautiful Rosella, all alone in a cage.
It's heartbreaking. Yes, a lot of people do not realize the intellegence, beauty and soul of a bird.
All of us who truely know and appreciate birds need to educate and spread the word that it is not "just a bird" but a soulful, intellegent, sensitive and loving creature who will need a loving home and a grateful human flock for life.

That is a very cheap price for a Too.... I bought Maxie through a classified ad. Her human Mom had died.... You never know the story behind the ad until you ask.... Maxie is my dream bird! She is the most loveable and gentle bird I have ever met. Not all birds are put up for sale because they have "issues".

Then again, sometimes it is the people that have issues. LOL
