What a CUTIE PIE!

I LOVE that she throws the cap and keeps plaing like it's in her claw...then when she sees it's gone, just bites her nail. LOL. ADD.

George wants another caique, but not untill he learns to clean cages.
If we do ever get one, we like the name Sherbert.
The WB has every color a container of sherbert would have!!!
congrats...
see, it doesnt take much to make they happy!!!

Kelly,

I'm so glad to hear you got them both. I'm so happy to hear you got at least one! Your video was so cute. She's sitting there playing with the bottle cap then, all of a sudden it was gone and she didn't even care. "Oh hey, look at this foot! I'll play with that!"

Caiques are known for foraging through your hair. The ones at the clinic are so predictable and such an entertainment piece. I walk up, step them onto my hand and set them on the top of my head then walk to the front to do paper work while she sits up there and roots through my hair. By the time she's done, my hairs a mess and I look like a lion.

The three caiqes I know are called: Jitterbug, aka Jitterbad.....Leonardo Da Vinci and Pablo Picaso. They are all so adorable and I envy you for having one, I mean two. Congrats!!!

Caique owners call it hair surfing.....eventually you end up like this)see pic Below)

What is 'hair surfing'?
Hair surfing is caique fun time. The caique rubs himself on your hair, pulling here and there, managing to get your hair all mussed up. Here is a picture of Cindi's Maggie hair surfing.

What is body-surfing?
A caique will rub his/her face on your arms, hands, etc. Ollie does this continuosly. From what I have read, this body-surfing behavior is only exhibited by caiques. It is stated that this may come from the behavior of leaf bathing that they do in the wild.

They love to take thier baths on a wet lettuce leaf

Lara: Thanks for the congrats. I don't know how you've managed to work there with those caiques and not managed to go home with one in your pocket!?! Hmmm, Jitterbug is a cute name. I'll have to add it to my list!! You know, Lara, you and me have both been into the "big" guys in the parrot world. I just never seemed drawn to smaller birds but I am totally smitten with these guys. I can tell you know what I mean.

Lisa B: It's funny you should mention the whole body rub thing. The WBC is definitely into doing that. She was rubbing her little face and head rapidly over and over all over my hand. And when I put her onto a towel I had spread out on my bed, she ran with her head down flat on in and would turn her head from side to side, all the time rubbing, rubbing, rubbing. I'll have to see if I can catch her on video and post it. And I'll definitely have to try putting down some wet lettuce leaves for her to bathe in. I think she'll love that. Thanks for giving me the idea!
