LA then would most likely be the state, G5RC is my guess of the breeders ID, 91 probably being the year, and 205 being the 205th bird hatched at the aviary???
You can check out http://buddysfriends.com/registry.html though I don't think it has the info that you are looking for... http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww5eiii.htm to try to learn some info on the band...

Yahoo also has a group called leg band numbers that might be able to help you with your search. They tried to search a band for my ekkie but weren't succuessful. I know they find a lot of them though. I hope they can help you. Christy |

Thanks guys.
I believe this Ekkie has been sold a few times. We purchased Shadow at a bird show in November. The people we bought the Eclectus from say they bought him from an individual. The seller to me tried to use him as a breeder bird. The story was the female breeder beat my ekkie up and our vosmaeri began plucking. So they in turn put him up for sale and my wife and I bought him. We were also told he was 3.5 years old but the leg band points to 13.5 years old. Anyway Shadow is in a forever home now and has joined our flock. I'm just curious as to what info can be found out from the leg band. |

L and M Bands is the United States largest provider of bird bands and does offer a registry of breeders who choose to participate. For a mere $5, they will do a search.

Candice:
I can't imagine Canada having enough parrots to warrant their own leg band manufacturer. I bet its L & M too. You can decide what you want on your bands as breeders. Most breeders use the system of State, Breeder ID, Year and Clutch number, not necessarily in that order. THE OUTLAW

KAZE BC 03 52
My guess is the aviary is KAZE, British Columbia, 2003, clutch number 52. That means baby bird 52 in the year 2003. How's that sound? THE OUTLAW

Oh I already knew what everything meant :) I was just saying it was very different *laughing* :)
It is much easier to understand because KAZE is the first letters of the breeders last name. 2003 is when she bought the bands, not when she hatched, she didn't hatch till 2004. She must of bought too many that year :) |
