Does your birds talk in context?
One of the things I find most fascinating with the birds is that they DO talk in context, not just to us but to each other. The macaws talk to each other in human talk not macaw talk, EVER!
Like when Pebbles my B&G is playing with BamBam my Scarlet and she get to rough for him, He will say " No Pebbles, Stop it, That Hurts" or "No Pebbles, Ouch" He tell her to "Step up and come here Pebbles" when he wants her to come to him. Every time he tells me "I'm sick" or "I don't fell good" we have had a vet bill coming. He has been right every time. He says dozens of other things in context to her and to us, full complete sentences, that he put together, with the I and You in place in the sentences, like with nouns and verbs thing. They don't talk AT all in Macaw talk. Not sure if I'm explaining it right but, Just wondering how many other are amazed at this.

lol...I hope mine dont...
Stirling keeps tellin me..."Stirling eat Ollie!" ![]() and one would say "pop-pop go outside to take a poopy?" I dont wanna know these things!!!! ![]() but in all seriousness, yes, some things they say are right on cue. We do carry on conversations. the one grey, Sam, who used to ask is Geo was going outside to take a poopy, was trying to figure out where George was going all the time. He was actually going outside to smoke. Sam didnt know what smoking was, but he knew you went certain places to poop, and he was trying to put something together. Sam also knew, each night, that Geo got up for ice cream. Sam used to scream "Ice cream, Ice cream, want some Ice cream????" followed by in my voice, "no Sam, no Ice cream" We learned to then spell ICE CREAM instead of saying the word. yeah, well, so did Sam. He would also ask for tickles when he put his head down to strangers. Would yell, "my pop pop can fly" when he would see a helicopter. (Geo is in the military) Tell me he loved me, when I told him. Would say "thank you" or "your welcome" in context (he was very polite) and the last words he said to me before he died, was "its Ok" It was the one and only time he ever used those words.

Lisa that last part was so sad...I'm gonna cry.
But I get that they learn things, they talk back to us, in words they hear us say and sometimes use it in the right context. But what blows me away, like my Macaws, is that they talk totally in context to each other in HUMAN words and NEVER talk to each other in macaw talk, which is screams and noises made by say macaws in the natural. Weird I guess.

Darwin uses some words in context, for example he tells me to "be gentle" when I am doing something that annoys him. If I have to wake him up early or if I am making noise at night, I hear a little "be gentle". Like I am hurting him emotionally!
And when he goes poo on his "pooing perch", he usually screams out "good boy!" before I get the chance to. Makes me laugh every time!

What really melts my heart... Is I'll have Franky (our Umbrella Cockatoo) out of her cage and be petting and cuddling with her and she'll say in the sweetest subtle voice, with her head on my shoulder while making kissing sounds.... "I Love You. I Love Franky Bird...."
I think she knows what "I Love You" means as she'll say it at all the right times. And also she'll laugh when she does something comically wrong... and well tell her... "Franky... don't do that you nut..." and she'll start laughing..... Parrots are the best kids in the world!

My birds talk in context. My amazon will call 'ma' for me when he is in a mood to be loved on. He also says 'Hi!' whenever he is greeting me from coming back from someplace, and
'bye bye' and waves when he sees me leaving. My caique also talks in context. He says 'hello' whenever I get him out for the first time in the day, and he tells everyone the 'birdie is out, watch out the birdie is out!" each time he gets out of his cage to play. The one thing that tickles me is that when the caiques are preening each other, they make kissing noises lol.

When ever we put Zoe in her cage for a "time out" she says..I be good girl over and over again until we give up and take her back out. Zazu always says hello when the phone rings and Zeus says a chipper little good morning when he gets uncover everyday. They are all so smart

My Hahns talks in context. When I leave the room he says 'what you doin'?' When I pick him up he says 'gimme kiss!' When I walk in the door he says 'hello baby!' Then there are the times when he doesn't quite get the context, like the time he he was on the patio over looking the pool, and a group of construction workers walked by and he said 'gimme kiss!' Nice.
