Because there is no solid scientific proof it hurts humans. Some say the Teflon Flu is a fraud. Cigs are a danger to humans yet those are still on the market even when they are proven dangerous. Until someone actually dies or develops some disease from teflon exposure will they finally be recognized as the danger they are.

I have the type of crock pot that has a removable "crock" I checked to make sure it had no teflon, just made of ceramic. Althought I do use Teflon cookware, I've been very careful and have had no problems.

Exclamation

Teflon and Teflon products (by ANY other name) are dangerous, and should not be used in a home with birds.
Teflon, even with normal use, over a medium heat will kill a bird within 5 minutes. The poisonous fumes hemorrhage their air sacs and lungs making it an EXTREMELY PAINFUL death...

I too have a crock pot I use often, that DOES NOT contain any Teflon or Teflon type components.

George forman grills are a no-no

I use farberware copper bottom pots and pans, and good ole pam cooking spray.
