I use mine all the time and have for years. I can't imagine why they would be bad. After all, they operate on low heat.

I always contact the company to determine if their products have teflon. I recently got auto off hair curlers from my hubbie and he contacted the company and they responded quickly. I dont have a crock pot, so I'm not sure about that, but some hairdryers to have teflon on them. Mine does not.

Is it safe to simmer potpourri in an electric crockpot? Or should I just stay with the natural cinnamon and such?

Hate to break it to you. LtlWngAngl but if it is nonstick it is more than likely dangerous to your birds. That Cephalon ( spelling??) is known to be just as toxic as Teflon . In fact it pretty much has the same chemicals in it. I was just reading something the other day about nonstick cookware and birds. I will see if I can find it again for you.
The only truly safe stuff is stainless steel or cast iron. SS is hard to cook on at first. But once you get the hang of it and know how to heat the pan it becomes easier. It is also a cinch to wash, even easier than the nonstick stuff because you don't have to worry about scratching the pan. Lynda |

it's not coated with anything, it's some metal alloy stuff that pots and pans are made out of that makes it non-stick....i'll get the name of the "stuff" when I get home tonight.
