Glad you know about the stained glass. I have a special place in hell for the stuff! It is difficult to deal with the fact that my own stupidity led to the loss of life of my little boy. So, I warn everyone any time I see stained glass.

Don't worry, I am very careful with it. I'm sorry about your baby, that must have been hard. Did this happen before or after you knew about the danger of stained glass?

Thats what's so scary to me about owning a bird. So much can go wrong, and it's usually something you had no idea about.

Believe it or not, even with all the reading I do, I never read about stained glass. So I buy this gorgeous lamp with parrots on it and put it on a sofa table next to the bannister (I have a loft upstairs). Ricky was on the bannister that morning. That evening, I was cleaning his cage, and he was his usual self. When I awoke the next morning, he was gone. That was about 5 years ago. To this day, I still punish myself. It was the most awful thing. I have his picture on my night stand next to my bed. I loved him - still do.

I'm really sorry. It's even more heartbreaking when it could have been prevented. But don't blame yourself, you didn't know. And anyway, I'm sure he's around you everyday, giving you tons of kisses.

Gayla, your new place is terrific! You are so settled in already. The pictures of the snow are amazing-especially for us Floridians who complain when we have to put the heat on at 68. Pita looks very happy with plenty to keep him amused. Kathie, I didn't know about stained glass-glad you mentioned it.
BTW, if you want to keep those rodents away, sprinkle some used kitty litter arount the outside perimeter of your house and they won't come near it. Of course, you will need an adequate amount of kitty litter to accomplish this, lol. G'nite, it's late.

Gayla, your house is gorgeous! I love the lamps, I didn't know they could be dangerous! Please keep that cute little Pita well away from them!
