Emma is MAD.....

really girly huffin mad.
I recieved a book from a friend for Christmas. My first coffee table book.
" The Parrot that owns me"
Because Miss Emma's playpen takes up my coffee table at night, the book was put out of reach on the end table. While I came in here to check my email, I hear "thump thump, THUD".
I go out to see what the heck is going on to find, the princess climbed off her playpen, climbed onto the couch, up the arm of the couch, walked across the end table and was attempting to beat the heck out of the Amazon on the cover. The Thumps I heard was her pushing the book into the wall, and the thud, was her picking the end up and chewing on the binded end!
The girl was so mad at this Amazon for invading HER territory, that when I attempted to pick her up, she puffed up and pinned her eyes to launch an attack on me
I just scooted her buttox up in my hands and put her on her playpen and she squiggled and kicked in protest.
The book is now back under the tree, and it has Emma's signature (beak marks) on the cover...

Dear little Emma. What a cutie pie!

BTW, you'll love the book. I read it twice!

Poor Emma, just showing that darn amazon to stay outta her territory, and what happens? She ends up on a perch for all her hard work :-).

I love that book, btw. Bet you will, too--even if you have to read it out of sight of Emma......

I had that book but I found it rather disturbing. Perhaps Emma has read the flap.

I read the first chapter last night. I didnt see the responces here till now.
Its only the first chapter, but from a long time parrot owner, I find it a bit odd that she would relish in the amazon wanting to mate with her. Usually we try to discourage it.
OH and btw, the book takes place in Somerset, NJ. that is about 20 miles from me.
So I will continue to read it and give my opinion as I go along for those who have not read it yet.
Being the author is so close, and the chief of ornithology at Rutgers University, maybe she is of interest for another lecture series at BP? ORRRRRRRRRRRR maybe an invitation to BP clients to Rutgers for a lecture?

can ya tell, I'm in lecture mode again?
