Bird schools, careers, etc.

Hey all. I was just wondering if any of you would happen to know anything about any school where one may study ornithology (or anything bird-related). Anyone know of any schools/programs that teach this? Second, what kinds of careers might invovle a degree like that?

I have an aunt who's been working for CITES for years now, but I've never heard anything about her studying birds specifically in school. She's been to many countries for field work, conventions, etc., and even met her husband at a convention in Costa Rica (some Chilean whale nut... go figure). But I know CITES is quite popular among people wanting to work for the animals, and is basically out of my league (for the time being, anyways).

So I guess I only have the two questions from the first paragraph. And is it just my tired brain, but does the "Idea" Emoticon look like a surprised cyclops?

: gasp!

I'm on the same path as you Luke. I can not see myself doing anything with my life, than working with animals(not dogs or cats). The thing is though, that all the $pays$ are generally crummy, after all the hard work, and effort put into it.

I'm really trying to look into jobs with animals that would have a decent pay, or just the variety of animal jobs.

And I don't think I could be a vet of any sort, because of blood guts and gore....

BLAH...I'm in a conumdrum

I think you should probably start your search with the University of Georgia. That's where Dr. Branson Ritchie and his team are currently working on cures for PDD and PBFD. Also, the University of Pennsylvania has a wonderful avain team of vets. If nothing else, they can point you in the right direction. Good luck. We sure need more qualified avian vets. If I were younger, I'd already be signed up.
