"Toy" question

Would anyone consider giving their CAG a new toothbrush or empty pint size water bottle to play with?
Merlin keeps giving me the "I want that" dance and eye every time I clean his cage with a toothbrush or leave a water bottle out.
Just curious.
Thanks!!

The little water bottle is fine. Add a few beans, glue on the cap with some white craft glue, let it sit overnight and you have a fun rattle.

As for the toothbrush, seems to me I read that many contain lead. Haven't a clue why, but I don't give them to birds because of that.

Wow, thats good to know. Mine both go nuts trying to get at my toothbrush every morning. I always keep them away when toothpaste is on it but now and then I will let them play with one that has been thoroughly rinsed out. In fact, I recently bought 2 cheap childrens toothbrushes specifically for the fids to let them play with due to their interest in mine.

I am amazed that there would be lead in a toothbrush in this day and age but until I hear otherwise I will make them off limits!

If I remember correctly in regards to the lead, I think its that some brands of toothbrushes have metal under the plastic heads of the brushes to help hold the bristles in- some people spotted tiny pieces of metal when the bristles were pulled out. I do not remember where I read that though.
