HI,
Thanks, I put a big fluffy towel in the bottom of his cage, great idea. I got some pedialyte for him and I also picked up mashed sweet potatoes. he hasn't touched the sweet potatoes, but he has eaten some of his food and seems to have perked up a bit. When I put my hand in a little while ago to give him a pet he gave a half-hearted attempt at biting me (which is more normal for him). I'll see how he's doing through tonight and tomorrow and if he doesn't continue to improve I will definitely be taking him to an avian specialist. Great ideas everyone, THANKS! Amy

HI,
I just saw your answer about the light, I like the idea of the infared light bulb or the ceramic one so he can sleep. I have the light bulb from the floor lamp pointed down now so it's not shining in his eyes, but I worry that it doesn't give him as much heat. I'm going to go out to the pet store tomorrow and get one of the reptile lights, how long would you keep that on him?
THanks

You may want to take the perch out of the cage (and even put him in a smaller cage if you have it). He will snuggle down into the towel if he doesn't have a choice and won't use so much energy trying to stand up on his perch. Hope he continues to improve (kinda funny when you have all these folks hoping your bird will bite you just to prove he can!)

When our Harley was sick and wasn´t drinking the vet said NOT to use a syringe to give her water as it might go down her airway, unless you put it in her lower beak, under her tongue. We will say prayers for you and your baby for a speedy recovery. Please let us know how he is doing.

you might wanna try giving him a little bit of warmed-up baby food, like the fruit and/or veggie ones, and maybe try giving him some warm baby formula. alot of sick birds will eat one or both of those two soft foods given with either a spoon or syringe.

I'm not sure exactly what he said, I'm operating on about 4 hours sleep. He gave him a b-12 shot and he put him on clavamox twice a day. He said to put everything to the bottom of the cage, but I put him in the bottom when we got home....
