Sounds like a huge undertaking to me that will quite possibly end in disaster.

Good luck, but it doesn't look good. I'd walk away if I were you. MALE, BREEDER, PLUCKER-PICKER M2. Not good.

If you think you can help him then good for you but I don't think it would be particularly wise to invest yourself...

That is an honest opinion. I hope you aren't offended. Why would you post this if you didn't want honest opinions, right?

I really wish you the best of luck but this doesn't look too good.

Check out the forum mytoos.com

I personally dislike the forum for many reasons, but that is irrelevant. You are considering rehabbing/adopting and adult breeder male M2 and that is exactly what that forum is about. Go post on that site and I'm sure they would love to help you.

I'm not trying to steer you away from this great forum. Just leading you to a more specific forum and hopefully you will get lots of help there.

This is absolutely wrong and the wrong thing to tell someone. I'm sorry to single you out but that is incredibly irresponsible. We are talking about a BREEDER MALE Moluccan here.......

Moral support on a message board is not going to do you any good when a fully-hormonal male breeder M2 splits your face open. IF you are really familiar with birds then you know they stay on their best behavior for a while and THEN show their true (wild animal) colors.

Please do more research and get more opinions outside of this board. I love this board because it is so supportive, but this is different. You need real opinions here, not just pats on the back and well-wishes.

This is a Moluccan cockatoo. A BREEDER MALE Moluccan cockatoo.

Well Im sorry but I believe that every bird deserves some love rather than ignoring it and letting it suffer and die lonely. Who knows, there are stories when loving birds turn crazy and there are stories where crazy birds turn loving. I have seen some of these personally. Used to have a tiel that would attack and draw blood whenever he could but then I gave it lots of attention and handled it as much as i could and it became one of the most loving birds. I know that we are talking about different birds but i dont like the thought of negleting a bird just because its a breeder and not hand raised.

i agree with you courtzrocks :) ive seen the same things happen with several birds :) i think the bird is just lonely right now. he either needs to find another bird mate, or possibly a human companion, idk which one this particular bird needs, i just know he needs to NOT be alone :( he might be able to be hand-tamed and be a loving pet, or he might want another bird instead...its up to you if you wanna try to tame him or not. im sure you are well aware of the severe damage his beak could do, and im sure you know how needy and clingy M2's are, i think this particular bird is gonna be extra clingy cause he was used to having another bird with him 24/7. its all up to you and how much you can handle.

Yes.........he needs TLC and alot of it. I don't know that much about toos but i think the worst and most heartbreaking thing would be for it to suffer.

Just because someone tells you that a bird is an old breeder doesnt mean that it wasnt a pet for 10 years before they stuffed it in a cage with a mate.

i have retired breeders and pets too and that has nothing to do with the quality of the bird(a pissed off pet too can eat you alive too and you wont know it until its over and you are on your way to the emergency room)

Go for it if you have the time, money and experience to handle the job.
