Golden Cockatoo - Florida petstore question?

Supposedly, in Jan of 04, someone put a hyacinth macaw on consignment at the store... and supposedly, the store was broken into, and the macaw stolen. I've heard nothing but good things about the Golden Cockatoo, until I saw this post....

Quote:
Several weeks later, Rick informed me that his store was broken into & only my bird was stolen. His employees neglected to set the alarm. I feel it was a staged robbery & he sold the bird to an un suspecting client or perhaps a local breeder. He did everything he could to avoid reimbursing me the insurance money he received from his insurance company, I spent more than what the settelment was in legal fees.
I am only wonder if anyone has any information about this (been 3 years ago!), and whether or not any of it may be a hoax. I would hate to think that a good store is getting a bad rap from false information, but likewise, if it's true, can anyone shed some light?

I am a client of the Golden Cockatoo. It is the only other store I frequent and that is only when I am in florida.
They did have a bird stolen a while back. I think it was thier other store, that has since moved.

no matter what ya cant please everyone, and no matter how good ya are, or what ya do, someone is always out there to cut ya down. I cant see it happening, but I wasnt there.

There it is.... I hate it when rumours go around, possibly causing problems with said stores or people, or even rescues.... which is whole reason why I started this post.... not to cause issues, just to get to bottom of something... hopefully.

yeah but you have to think if that really did happen the shop should be responsible. I think if any of my animals go some where like that i would get it in writting that they are responsible for the animal.

I think you should post this as a response to the other post Monica. It is sad how rumors get spread. It is especially sad when it is a small individual business.

Hard to say if it'd help any... one thing for it to be true... another for it to be false.

As I was surfing their site, I noticed there was another robery that had taken place there. Fortunatly, the bird was returned safly.
To me, this means that things just happen. I wouldn't think they would have just allowed it to go unreported, because they had the police and everybody envolved...

Hmm I've never heard this story, but I have been wanting to visit the Golden Cockatoo Parrot Boutique. Deerfield Beach is only about 2.5 hours from where we live now. You always hear about parrots getting stolen though. It's unfortunate.
