Idea...What do Ya'll think

I got to thinking... LisaB ask about a poem she had lost and someone posted it. I have seen this years ago but every time I read it, I still want to cry because it has to be said. I know some people don't know what they are getting into and get a parrot when they have no business doing it. I have seen the resent post about stupid listing online, craig's list, and local papers. My point in all this is, what if each one of us posted the poem on craig's list for your home town. We maybe could wake up some people out there. If we could just help one parrots life then we as a group have done something. So any way's I have done it in the Chatt. area, will you do it?

8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, or I’ve been in the cage too long.

9. Take care of me when I get old; you too will get old.

10. Go with me on the last journey. Never say “I can’t bear to watch it,” or "Let it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.

I think it is a great idea, however for some reason I can not copy and paste. So I'll have to copy the poem down by hand and then type it in. It is a very touching poem. And it is amazing how many parrots are listed on craigslist. I love the ones where the parrot is not able to be handled, but they price as if it were a hand fed sweet heart!!!!!!! I've seen some in pretty disgusting cages, so sad!! You would think my own parrots could be a little more appreciative of what they have, BUT NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

I posted it then got an email saying it was flagged and removed? it was against "violation of craigslist posting guidelines."???????

I think I know why they flagged and removed it. When you hear why, you'll understand.

It could be that the poem itself is copyrighted! Which means a violation of federal law to redistribute it any where. CraigsList may have removed it as they would be held liable for hosting copyrighted material.

"Reprinted with permission" probably isn't enough legal comfort for the owners of CraigsList to accept the redistribution. With all the law suits happening lately over this exact type of problem on the web, I can understand their hesitance.

Just about 6 months ago a multimillion dollar lawsuite was entered into Federal Court against "Google Images (C)" for their thumbnailing of images in their database. The case is still pending.

Sometimes we forget that a lot of what we see on the web and on TV is illegal for us to redistribute or copy without the express written consent of the producer of the material.

hey...i didn't mean to "plagiarize" i just did it because i thought it was a good idea....but yes. now i that i think of it...we technically have NO right posting someone else's work.

I see a lot of things get flagged on craigslist because someone thinks it does not belong in the forum it was posted in, anyone can flag someone else on craigslist. Good chance is it got flagged because the pet area is suposed to be for finding a new home for a pet, not a poem about them. I am going to try posting in the pet section of craigslist for my area. I will let you know what happens.

It is still up in the Chatt. TN area, check it for yourself. The flag was done by anyone, someone, and probably someone selling a poor parrot. You could do it to my post. Anyway, they do it alot, to some else that don't want them to read it their post. Too much thinking involved there. Anyways, I still say post it. If it doesn't get flagged like my area then your helping out the parrots.
